NBA Ratings December 18

Filed under: Uncategorized — wwinston @ 12:25 pm

I should be done with exams and teaching at companies on Wednesday so starting late next week I should be posting more commentary on the NBA. Here are latest ratings. You can see the media (as usual) overhyped the Knicks’ resurgence. By the way the Amare for MVP talk is ludicrous (more on that next week) and Eric Gordon of the Clippers deserves much more ink than Blake Griffin. Despite their injuries the Celtics are still solidly #1 but look out for the hated Heat, epsecially when Mike Miller returns soon.

  1. This ratings are horrendous…What’s your algorithm? The top 10 is fine but from then on, its a trainwreck

  2. It’s primarily point differential adjusted for quality of schedule.

You want to be specific about which ratings you think are far out of line. They look fine to me.

  3. I think ranks are spot on. Only weakness I see is too big gap between top and bottom teams, i.e. boston is 19 point better than sacramento. adding 3 point home court advantage to boston, it’s hard to imagine boston beating sacramento on average 22 points on daily basis….

I’m a die hard Knicks fan for about 40 years and I can tell you that I’m the only person in NY that agrees with you. lol

IMHO the main reason the Knicks are improved is that they found a hidden gem in Landry Fields. Over and above that, Felton is an improvement over Duhon and Wilson Chandler is also playing better. But you’ll never convince NYers that Amare is not a superstar. The Knicks themselves have no reason to spread the credit because they are the organization that paid Amare all that money to be an average rebounder, turn the ball over like crazy, and play below average defense (though he is a great scorer).
